Hooks Flip the Script in Frisco as Wrobleski Sparks Late-Game Drama

FRISCO, Texas (May 15, 2025) — On a night filled with momentum swings and standout individual performances, the Corpus Christi Hooks emerged victorious over the Frisco RoughRiders, 4–2, at Riders Field. Despite a promising start from Frisco and a quality outing from starter Josh Stephan, a late surge from Corpus Christi, fueled by Ryan Wrobleski, sealed the win.

Frisco (21–15) jumped ahead early with two runs in the bottom of the first. Abimelec Ortiz crossed home plate on a wild pitch, followed by Cam Cauley’s RBI double to give the home team a 2–0 lead. For a moment, it appeared the Riders might cruise behind Stephan’s efficient five-inning outing, during which he fanned seven and surrendered just one run.

But Corpus Christi (11–25) clawed back. Pascanel Ferreras trimmed the deficit with an RBI single in the fifth before Wrobleski took over the spotlight. In the sixth inning, the Hooks' catcher launched a two-run home run off Frisco reliever Larson Kindreich — the first runs Kindreich had allowed all season. Wrobleski wasn’t done, adding an insurance run in the eighth with an RBI single, finishing the night with three RBIs.

The RoughRiders mounted a late rally in the ninth, reminiscent of their dramatic seven-run comeback the night before. Luis Mieses kept hope alive with a two-out double, but Michael Knorr slammed the door by striking out Frainyer Chavez to earn his first save of the year.

Hooks starter Jackson Nezuh (1–5) picked up his first win of the season, working 5.2 innings while allowing two runs on four hits. Kindreich (0–1), despite his impressive season to date, was tagged with the loss in relief.
